What I am, what I am not, and the systems a sale runs on
I can give you a market appraisal of what your business would realistically sell for, market it confidentially to qualified buyers, and manage a sale from the first conversation through to settlement.
What I am not is a valuer or an accountant. A formal valuation for legal, tax or family law purposes is a separate exercise carried out by a registered valuer or a qualified accountant. If that is what you need, I will tell you so and point you at one.
Every credential and registration, and the register that holds it
| Credential or registration | Register or issuing body | What a search or a check returns | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Queensland Office of Fair Trading licence 4963575 Issued July 2026 | Queensland Office of Fair Trading, Fair Trading Licensing Register | Free search: the licence number, the name of the holder, the type of licence, and the date of the last data update in the ‘details current at’ field. The Office of Fair Trading states the free register “is for your information only. You cannot use it as evidence in legal proceedings.” | ftlr.fairtrading.qld.gov.au |
| Licence extract for 4963575 The evidentiary version of the same licence | Queensland Office of Fair Trading, paid product | The name of the holder, their registered business name and place of business, the status of the licence expressed as current, expired, refused, cancelled or suspended, and the licence number and class. Fee $20.70 on the fee schedule updated 1 July 2026, sent within 10 working days. | qld.gov.au, check a property licence |
| Membership, Australian Institute of Business Brokers | The Institute itself. A membership body, not a regulator and not a government register | The Institute publishes a member finder. Membership confirms that a person has joined and is bound by the Code of Conduct. It does not confirm a current licence, does not evidence any completed sale, and does not give you access to the statutory claim fund. | aibb.org.au |
| Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice units, and the Diploma of Property (Agency Management) units, behind the licence | Assessed by the Office of Fair Trading on application. The qualifications themselves are published on the National Register at training.gov.au | The Office of Fair Trading issues the licence only when the 19 required units are complete, so the licence on the register is itself the evidence that the units were done. The National Register publishes what each qualification comprises, including the unit codes, but records no individuals. | training.gov.au and ftlr.fairtrading.qld.gov.au |
| Certificate IV in Training and Assessment | Issued by a registered training organisation. The qualification is published on the National Register at training.gov.au | The Register publishes the qualification, its entry requirement of demonstrated vocational competence, and the fact that the current version supersedes and is equivalent to an earlier version carrying a different national code. It does not record who holds one. The testamur is what governs, so ask for it and read the code printed on it. That is why no code for this qualification appears anywhere on this site. | training.gov.au, then the testamur |
| ABN 36 211 950 299 | Australian Business Register | ABN status as active or cancelled, entity name, entity type, GST registration status and the date it took effect, main business location by postcode and state, and historical trading names where held. Free, no login. The name here has to match the name in part 2 of the PO Form 6A appointment. | abr.business.gov.au |
| No Australian financial services licence Stated as an absence, because it is one | ASIC professional registers and the Financial Advisers Register | Whether a named person or entity holds, or is authorised under, an Australian financial services licence. This name is not on them. Section 764A(1) of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) makes a share in a body a financial product, so a sale of shares is scoped out of any engagement and referred on. | service.asic.gov.au and moneysmart.gov.au |
| No banning or disqualification | ASIC banned and disqualified persons and organisations | The name, the type of ban or disqualification, the start date, whether it is permanent or temporary, and the end date if temporary. Free. It draws on six source registers and covers corporations, financial services and credit, which is a different universe from the Queensland property licence. | connectonline.asic.gov.au |
Register descriptions and fees from the Queensland Office of Fair Trading, ASIC, the Australian Business Register and training.gov.au, read 14 August 2026. Queensland fees are those applying from 1 July 2026. No qualification code is stated for the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, because the code on the testamur governs and a website is not the place that is settled.
The part of this page that matters most
The verifiable facts, in one place. Queensland Office of Fair Trading licence 4963575, issued July 2026, searchable free at ftlr.fairtrading.qld.gov.au, which returns the licence number, the name of the holder, the licence type and a ‘details current at’ date. ABN 36 211 950 299, searchable free at abr.business.gov.au. Member of the Australian Institute of Business Brokers, which is a membership body and not a regulator. Based at Gumdale, Queensland 4154. Run those searches before you read another line, because the argument of this page is that you should not have to take any of it on trust.
What sits behind the licence is operating background, and it is set out here as exactly that. More than twenty years in operating roles, including senior positions in industrial auction and asset remarketing appraising earthmoving plant, trucks and transport fleets at volume, and general management of a national online retailer in window furnishings. He co founded, owned, built and sold a toy retail and wholesale business with his wife, which is the seller’s side of the table rather than the agent’s. He holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and has built and designed online safety training programmes. He runs sales and marketing for a hinterland tree farm. His father in law spent a working life growing turf in Queensland, built the business to substantial scale and sold it to competitors.
Two limits on this page itself. Whether the Queensland licensee search or the paid licence extract discloses disciplinary history could not be confirmed from the Office of Fair Trading’s published description of either product when this was checked on 14 August 2026, so enforcement should be looked for separately on the Office of Fair Trading court outcomes page, the enforceable undertakings register and the businesses and traders to avoid list, and on the ASIC banned and disqualified search. And no qualification code is stated anywhere on this site for the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, because the current national qualification supersedes an earlier one carrying a different code and the code that governs is the one printed on the testamur. Sections 18 and 29 of the Australian Consumer Law apply to every sentence here, and they apply identically to a business that started this year. If anything on this page fails that standard, the Queensland Office of Fair Trading is the place to say so, and its contact details are on qld.gov.au rather than buried on this site.
Five systems, and what each one does for you
The five systems
It works from your normalised earnings against comparable sale evidence rather than a rule of thumb, which is what makes a market appraisal defensible when a buyer questions the number. This is what sits behind the free appraisal, and it costs you nothing.
Buyers who have told me what they are looking for, by sector, budget and location, so when your business comes to market it goes to people already looking rather than waiting for someone to find an advertisement. Every enquiry, confidentiality agreement and stage of your sale is tracked in one place.
Alongside the campaign, I build a target list for your business specifically: trade buyers, competitors needing capacity, operators and investors. They get approached discreetly and individually, which is where the buyer paying the most is usually found.
Why it matters
A business marketed only to the people who happen to live nearby is competing in a small pool
The same business taken deliberately to trade buyers, operators and investors around the country is a different proposition, and that is frequently where the best price comes from.
How the process runs, and who else is in the room
Appraisal, positioning, buyer qualification, negotiation, due diligence and settlement. I manage every stage rather than handing you off partway, and I work alongside your accountant and solicitor rather than around them. They know your tax position and your legal exposure better than I do, and a sale structured without them is a sale that unravels later.
A sale that falls over usually did not blow up. It slowed down, went quiet, and never started again. Keeping it moving is the part of the job nobody sees, and it is the part the systems above exist for.
What you actually get
You deal with me directly from the first conversation through to settlement. No assistant, no call centre, nothing handed off partway. What sits behind that is two decades of operating experience in the industries I now sell, a Queensland licence, and a process I run personally on every deal.
Ask what it is worth
Free, in writing, and nobody finds out you asked. Tell me the trade and the suburb and I will do the rest.
Nobody finds out you are selling. This goes to me only, into my own database in Sydney. I will not contact your accountant, your landlord, your bank or your staff, ever, unless you ask me to.
If you would rather not put anything in writing yet, ring 0431 124 128. Prefer to pick a time yourself? Book a time in my diary.
Find out what your business is worth.
